The Social Entrepreneurship Review will publish a Special Issue on Social Economy in Rural Areas

The Social Entrepreneurship Review journal is calling for papers for a special issue titled “Social Economy in Rural Areas”. This special edition aims to assess institutional support for rural and community development, identify the role of social entrepreneurship, including women-led initiatives in rural development, and analyze sustainable business models applicable to rural areas that align with human and environmental needs.

Academics, professionals, policymakers and other interested contributors are invited to submit articles on topics such as:

Institutional support for social economy enterprises in rural areas: effectiveness of existing legal, policy, and support frameworks.

Women’s activities in rural areas: role of women’s organizations in rural communities; measurement of female entrepreneurship and activism; training and empowerment of female leaders in rural regions.

Social farming and social innovation in rural areas: impact of social innovation on local and regional development; contributions of family farms, care farms, agritourism, and rural NGOs to social economy goals; role of social innovation in intergenerational inclusion and demographic challenges.

Social entrepreneurship as a sustainable business model in rural areas: leveraging rural potential, including traditions, culture, and natural and human resources; mission and management of organizations such as agricultural cooperatives, associations, foundations, and rural women’s circles; case studies and best practices in rural social enterprise management.

Combating rural exclusion and marginalization: reducing the gender gap and addressing digital exclusion in rural areas; strategies to tackle rural poverty and depopulation; job creation and intergenerational integration.

Social Entrepreneurship Review is an academic journal dedicated to the study of social entrepreneurship, social and solidarity economy, and innovation in sustainable business models. It aims to provide a multidisciplinary forum for research on initiatives that combine social impact and economic viability, addressing topics such as social economy in rural areas, social inclusion, and public policies supporting this type of entrepreneurship.

The journal is edited by the Cracow University of Economics, one of Poland’s leading academic institutions in the fields of economics and business.
