The 33rd International Congress of the International Centre of Research and Information on the Public, Social and Cooperative Economy (CIRIEC) will be held in Valencia (Spain) on the 13th, 14th and 15th June 2022. The Congress will be held under the motto “New global dynamics in the post-Covid era: challenges for the public, social and cooperative economy”, and will take place in the incomparable setting of the Palau de les Arts, in the City of Arts and Sciences, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

2022: A year of great expectations for the social economy
The Social Economy Action Plan was launched on December 9, although its social coming out took place on 16 December in Brussels, in an event organised by the European Commission. On January 1st began the French Presidency of the Council with an important agenda to accompany the success of the Social Economy Action Plan. Of key interest too is the 33rd CIRIEC International Congress, on Public, Social and Cooperative Economy, on 13, 14 and 15 June 2022 in Valencia.

The European social economy welcomes the Social Economy Action Plan
After 14 years of collective work and tireless commitment, the members of the European Social Economy are satisfied with the document presented. However, Social Economy Europe (SEE) warns that this “cannot be a time to relax, as it is the starting point for a series of actions aimed at successfully implementing the Plan”. In fact, 2022 will be the time to expand it.

33rd CIRIEC International Congress - Call for papers
CIRIEC-Spain and CIRIEC-International invite the global community to what is expected to be the biggest event in the public, social and cooperative economy this year, the 33rd CIRIEC International Congress, to be held in Valencia from 13 to 15 June 2022. The Congress is aimed at managers of public and social enterprises worldwide, representatives of the economic and social world, cooperative and social economy leaders, trade unionists, politicians, professionals and scientists. The inaugural conference of the Congress will be given by Paul Krugman, winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economics, and the closing conference will be given by Mariana Mazzucato.

Report: Clusters of Social and Ecological Innovation in the European Union, perspectives and experience
The expert group on social economy and social enterprises (GECES) created a sub-group on "The role of clusters and similar forms of business cooperation in fostering the development of social economy" with the task of researching and exploring insights into social economy clusters and their role in fostering innovation in the European Union. This report identifies the model of Clusters of Social and Ecological Innovation (CSEI) and explores their presence across the European Union.

Ethical Finance Foundation's 4th Report on Ethical and Sustainable Finance in Europe is released
The new report on ethical and sustainable finance in Europe, jointly prepared by the two Foundations of the Banca Etica Group, has been published. The report, the fourth presented since 2018, analyses the evolution of ethical finance in European territory and presents different experiences showing the plurality within the sector.

The attractiveness of the social entrepreneurship for young people: innovative & inclusive way to do business
The European Commission has flagged 2022 as the European Year of Youth.
