Following the success of the previous editions, with the participation of 38 universities and more than 5,000 people in 142 activities in the last one, the ENUIES Network, of CIRIEC-Spain, calls again on Centers, Institutes, Chairs, and other research structures in Social Economy to celebrate the 5th University Week of Social Economy, which will take place this year from March 4th to 14th, both inclusive. There will therefore be eleven days, as there were last year, which will enable the activities to be spread out more evenly.
CIRIEC invites research structures in Spain and Latin America to organize one or more activities related to Social Economy and its families, in face-to-face or online format, each from their own center, faculty, or university, on one of the proposed days, thus jointly completing a broad agenda of events that make Social Economy visible from the academic field. The last day, Thursday, March 14th, will be reserved for a joint activity of the ENUIES Network, CIRIEC, and the Spanish Association of Accounting and Business Administration (AECA).
The 5th University Week will also be held within the framework of what has been called the ‘momentum of Social Economy’. Thus, organizations such as the UN, the ILO, the OECD, or the European Council have published various resolutions on this economic model over the last two years. In the Spanish context, the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has just published the Integral Plan to promote Social Economy, endowed with 80 million euros.
ENUIES encourages the participation of social economy stakeholders in the activities
Each university can organize one or more activities according to its objectives, resources, and availabilities. Conferences, round tables, exhibitions, book presentations, or research project results, workshops, or specific training sessions can be scheduled, among others. In short, the aim is to bring Social Economy to the University and vice versa, showing what is being done at the University for Social Economy. To do this, the ENUIES Network wants to involve all social economy stakeholders in the #SemanaUniversitariaES.
All participants in the University Week will receive a certificate of participation. Therefore, organizers are also requested to properly fill out the form for the scheduled activities in each center.
All research structures are encouraged to take part in the 5th University Week of Social Economy 2024, by submitting proposals by next Monday, February 26th, through the following form. Representative entities of the sector are also encouraged to collaborate in the University Week, participating in the activities and disseminating them through their partners, networks, and information channels.”
